Release Notes

Main changes:
  • FIX: memory was leaking when passing data from R to .NET with the default setting to use R.NET for all data conversion. Users of the previous versions should upgrade.
  • Using some C++ features rather than 'just' C99 for compiling on Linux. As this is a significant change in the build tool chain, please report any difficulty you have on Linux, if any. Success would be nice to hear about too...

Some introductory documentation, besides the package vignettes, is still at the old rClr site on codeplex

This package is a zip file you can install on Windows with e.g. R CMD INSTALL. It is only for Windows, and the CLR used is .NET 4.5. The package contains binaries for both 64 and 32 bits.

On Linux you can use the following to compile. You will need a fairly recent mono installation as well as a C/C++ compiler (only tested with the gnu toolchain).

R CMD INSTALL rClr_0.7-4.tar.gz
  1. perhaps, you may need to bypass one test:
R CMD INSTALL --no-test-load rClr_0.7-4.tar.gz

  • My colleague Justin Hughes reported the issue and provided sample code for reproducing the issue.

Reviews for this release

I worked with it and didn't encounter any issues. Looks robust! I think it is past beta stage ...
