Release Notes

0.7-1

After a hiatus of a year in public releases, time for an update.

Main changes:
More than is possible to fit in this page, but as an overview:
  • Quite a few months and internal versions later, more than enough has been done to have a public release. The main change under the hood is the use by default of R.NET in preference to C, which has opened the conversion of more complicated data structures.
  • One particularly noteworthy feature is the possibility to convert .NET objects into R data frames in pure C# (or any other .NET language). This is not directly apparent as a feature in rClr itself, but it supports the use case. More on these capabilities will come in the form of additional documentation in subsequent releases.
  • Not quite ready functional on Mono, but expected to be at parity in upcoming releases.

Some introductory documentation, besides the package vignettes, is still at the old rClr site on codeplex:https://r2clr.codeplex.com/documentation

This package is a zip file you can install with e.g. R CMD INSTALL. It is only for Windows, and the CLR used is .NET 4.5. The package contains binaries for both 64 and 32 bits.

Acknowledgements
  • skyguy94 and evolvedmicrobe have contributed to R.NET over the past year and thus to this package. Thanks a lot guys.
